Choose Work Boots with Gore-Tex to Keep Feet Dry

Posted on Mar 4, 2015 in Gore-Tex | 0 comments

No one wants to do anything with feet, especially when you are wearing work boots. Gore-Tex knows this and understands how important it is to keep your feet dry. For this reason, it’s important to choose a military boot, tactical boot, or everyday work boot created with Gore-Tex technology. Below, we will go over the benefits of Gore-Tex technology.

Gore-Tex uses ePTFE to Keep Your Feet Dry

The reason Gore-Tex products are able to keep your feet, hands, and body warm is thanks to ePTFE, also known as expanded polytetrafluoroethylene. This technology was created by Bore gore, in 1969, and is incredibly microporous, strong, and allows for low-water absorption. In 1978, Gore-Tex fabric was introduced to the world and has been used by many ever since.

Gore-Tex Membrane

One of the hallmarks of the Gore-Tex brand is the Gore-Tex membrane. This membrane allows the product it is placed in to be waterproof and breathable at the same time. In a Gore-Tex membrane, there are 9 billion microscopic pores. These pores will not allow water to penetrate it, but do allow  moisture vapor to escape.

Gore-Tex is Extremely Durable

Another important aspect of Gore-Tex products is the fact that this material is extremely  durable. Gore-Tex fabric is incredibly tough and guaranteed to perform even when put to the test. The best part about Gore-Tex material in work boots is the fact that this high-technology material doesn’t require a ton of maintenance. In fact, you can wash Gore-Tex fabric several times without risking changing the effectiveness of the fabric.

Understanding the Differences between Dri-Lex and Gore-Tex

Posted on Apr 2, 2014 in Gore-Tex | 0 comments

When you browse our inventory, you will find that we offer many military boots, tactical boots, and combat boots with waterproof technology. Some of the boots in our inventory are waterproof due to their durable leather and other boots are made with Gore-Tex or Dri-Lex technology. In fact, some boot choices will be made with Dri-Lex and Gore-Tex technology. To help you make the best decision for your feet, we have created this blog explaining the differences between the two different types of technology.

Understanding Dri-Lex Technologybelleville 880 st mens waterproof insulated boot

Dri-Lex technology is created by using a multi-zone lining system. In this system, moisture is transported away from the skin of your foot by using an underlayer of Hydrofil nylon. The addition of Hydrofil nylon ensures that the interior layer of the boot that is closest to the skin will always remain cool and dry. Dri-Lex is used frequently in the construction of footwear and is also used when making cowboy hats.

Understanding Gore-Tex Technology

Unlike Dri-Lex, Gore-Tex uses PTFE materials. These materials are created through emulsion polymerization. This combination of materials and technologies makes footwear made of Gore-Tex water repellent. Instead of drawing moisture away from your feet, a boot built with Gore-Tex technology will allow you to stay dry by repelling water from the boot.

Now that you understand the differences between Dri-Lex and Gore-Tex, you are ready to make the best decision for your feet. If you have any questions about the boots in our inventory, please feel free to contact us by phone, email, or your favorite social media channel and we will be glad to provide you with the information you need.

Reasons you should Purchase a Work Boot with a Gore-Tex Liner

Posted on Dec 17, 2013 in Gore-Tex | 0 comments

When you browse our inventory, you will find many military boot choices are available with a Gore-Tex liner or with Gore-Tex fabric included in the construction. We have created this blog to inform you how a Gore-Tex bootie, liner, or fabric can make your daily task a bit easier to do.

What is Gore-Tex?

Gore-Tex is patented, revolutionary technology that allows those who wear something made of Gore-Tex to be extremely dry and comfortable. Gore-Tex works by preventing moisture from making its way into your boot. Whether you are walking through wet grass or marching in a torrential downpour, your feet will stay dry and comfortable when the boots you are wearing feature Gore-Tex technology.

Find Gore-Tex Work Boots in our Inventory

On our website, Gore-Tex is found in many of our most popular work boots, however, Gore-Tex technology is also found in apparel, medical supplies, and much more. In addition to providing waterproof protect, Gore-Tex liners in work boots help to protect against wind and inclement weather, and also allow the foot to breathe, which creates footwear that is extremely easy to wear. Two of the most popular work boots in our inventory that feature Gore-Tex technology are Danner boots and Rocky boots. However, there are many more as well.danner-15200-men-s-8-inch-power-foreman-gtx

The Gore-Tex Promise

Gore-Tex products have been available on the market for a very long time. As a result, Gore-Tex is a name that consumers can trust. According to Gore-Tex, when a product carries their label, you can trust that the product has been tested to meet and exceed industry standards and the product features innovation well beyond its time. As a bonus, Gore-Tex products are extremely protective and comfortable.

Common Gore-Tex Abbreviations and Applications in Footwear

On our website, we often abbreviate Gore-Tex as GTX. It is also important to note that different boots feature Gore-Tex in different applications. For instance, some boots are built with Gore-Tex fabric. This particular boot will be covered in fabric that is resistant to water and wind. Other boots will have a Gore-Tex liner. This liner is applied inside the bootie and in some cases is removable. Another popular way Gore-Tex is applied to work boots in our inventory is through the use of a waterproof bootie. Like the liner, this bootie is often easy to remove or replace if needed.
